Alton's portion of Wreaths Across America took place at the Alton National Cemetery. The event is held simultaneously at different locations throughout the United States to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for freedom.

To ensure more stockings were stuffed and Christmas trees had presents, Freer Auto Body held its annual Cookies and Cocoa toy drive event. Snacks and refreshments were served as members of the community joined together to get into the holiday spirit.
The annual run, started by coach Jim Wigger of Alton, is now in its 60th year. Hundreds of people from across the country attend the event annually to experience the scenic course that runs along the Great River Road.
