Elsah | Save
Zelma Louise Dickerson (Harp, nee Warren), 84, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:02 a.m. from natural causes at her home in Elsah, IL where she was living with her son and daughter-in-law.
She was born on January 7, 1940 in Thebes, IL to Everett S. Warren and Ruby L. Warren (Pankey). She married Earl L. Harp on September 4, 1959. They shared 50 years of marriage together until his passing on October 15, 2009.
Zelma, who preferred to go by her middle name Louise, had one daughter, Teressa D. Harp, who died shortly after birth on October 26, 1962 and also has one son, Gregory S. Harp born on July 16, 1969.
In addition to her son Gregory and his wife, Cathi, Louise is survived by four grandchildren, Keara Harp, BreeAnna and her husband Taylor Gordon, Bekah and her husband Cody Voigt, and Christi and her husband Tom Bonnier; three great-grandchildren Joey Voigt, Brendan Bonnier, and Nicole Bonnier; as well as many other extended family members and close friends.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl Harp, her daughter, Teressa Harp; her sister Linda Clendening (Warren); and her second husband Alfred Dickerson.
Louise loved to sew. She spent many years in retail specifically working with fabrics. She loved making clothes and blankets for family members. Her other hobby was making candy to give to others during holidays. She loved listening to country and gospel music often going to concerts and spending time in Nashville and Branson for vacations. She also loved her family and friends. Her favorite moments were when she was spending time talking and having fun with those she loved. She loved to entertain others and make them feel special by doing little things that made a big difference.
Louise also loved to share of the miracles that God had done in her life. As a young girl around 12, she and her parents were told that she would not live long due to a heart defect. She was told that she would never be able to have children as well. But God had other plans and through a miraculous healing, she was able to live a long and happy life outliving the doctors expectations by over 50 years and having a child. Her final wish was to make sure that her testimony was shared and that people would know that she loved Jesus, that God loves them and that He still heals today.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 9 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL.
