William “Bill” Lawrence Simon, 74, died peacefully at his home at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving daughters. Born January 10, 1949 in Alton, he was the son of William and Catherine (Ardison) Simon. He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science then owned and operated Bill Simon Equipment in Alton for over 40 years. Bill had a zest for life. He was a private pilot, enjoyed boating and sailing, fireworks and cutting his grass. He took a genuine interest in his friends and their activities and loved his girls. Surviving are three daughters, McKenzi Simon and Ozzy Clements of Rushville, IL, Taylor Simon of Alton, and Lydia Simon of Panama City Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Leena, Hank, and Jeralene, and a sister, Kay Huff of Franklin, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Gent Funeral Home where a memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023. Pastor Tim Gill will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pride Inc., P.O. Box 683, Godfrey, IL 62035 (please include Bill Simons name in the memo).
