William R. Schnarr, 72, of Alton, passed away on July 23, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
William was born on September 11, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Otto C. Schnarr Sr. and Margaret Marie (Nunley) Schnarr.
William graduated from Clayton High School and pursued a career as a Maintenance Electrician in Plastic Manufacturing.
On October 20, 2006, William was united in marriage with Doreen Schnarr at Alton Memorial Hospital Chapel.
William is survived by his loving spouse, Doreen Schnarr of Alton; a daughter, Rebecca Schnarr of Alton, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Babbette Schnarr of Ft. Hood, TX, William "Bill" A. and Crystal Schnarr of Florissant, MO, Chase and Erica Gray of Silverdale, WA; seven grandchildren and spouses, Bethany and Justin Ostendorf, Jake "Jack" and Ariel Book, Kayla Book, Andrea, Emily, and Abigail Schnarr, and Hadley Gray; five great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ryder, Annalise, Milana, and Harper; and one brother and sister-in-law, Otto Carl Schnarr Jr. and his wife Virginia of Hazelwood, MO.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carlene Houston and Judith Shelton.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Otto C. Schnarr Jr. and Robert Schnarr officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Cemetery in Olivette, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Louis Zoo, the Alzheimer's Association, or The Stroke Foundation.
