Wayne Henson

Wayne E. Henson, 90, of Bethalto, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

He was born on August 9, 1934, in Oraville, IL, the son of Christopher and Edna (Ebersohl) Henson. Wayne married Shirley (Camp-Brown) Henson in Alton on September 9, 1962.

Wayne was a 1952 Alton High School graduate. He attended Washington University in St. Louis in 1960.  He graduated from SIUE with a Bachelor of Science in 1970. Wayne is a United States Navy Veteran. He was a journeyman electrician and the owner/operator of Camp Electric & Heating Co. Inc. for over 50 years. Wayne was a member of Evangelical UCC of Godfrey and the Bethalto American Legion. He was a former member and President of the Bethalto Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the National Electrical Contractor Association, serving on Board of Directors as: Director, Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Governor. Wayne was in the IBEW #649 for 65 years.

Wayne loved gardening, traveling, and having dinner with family.  He loved to cap off the evenings by enjoying a Manhattan alongside Shirley, his wife of 53 years.  

He is survived by his sons, Tim (Danette) Henson of Bethalto and Tom (Nancy) Brown of Alton; grandchildren, Jim (Kristina) Brown, Chris (Lindsey) Henson, and Dan (Mallory) Henson; great-grandchildren, Ava and Ethan Brown, Gemma, Burk, and Baker Henson; and a brother, Carl Henson of Golconda, IL.

Along with his parents and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Edna Henson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1 pm until time of service at 3 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home. Ginny Ilch will officiate.

A private burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to EUCC and/or the American Cancer Society.
