Ward L. King, Jr, Belleville, III, age 76, passed away on February 14, 2026, while abroad in the Dominican Republic. Ward was born November 16, 1949, in Belleville, IL. He was employed with the US Postal Service for 35 years as a Rural Route Letter Carrier where he retired in 2011.
Ward lived life to the fullest, never meeting a stranger. He made lifelong friends everywhere he went. A member of the Crusaders marching band traveling & competing across the states. Ward enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, landscaping, and keeping the lawn looking great. He loved a good golf game playing on many courses and watched the competition on weekends with the Pro's. More recently, he found great enjoyment being on the pickleball court with his many friends at both YMCA's in Belleville. He enjoyed the company at PSOP and going on many of their trips.
After retirement, he traveled to many beautiful places. Ward will be remembered for his kind spirit, humor, his smile, and most of all his love of friends & family. Ward truly was an avid sports fan of all kinds, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ward was preceded in death by his father and mother-In-Law, Joseph A. Renneker, Sr. and Stella L., nee Wade, Renneker, his parents, Ward King, Sr. and Geraldine, nee Drovett, King; nieces, Jeni Moses and Barbara Herndon; and sister-in-law, Mary R. Green.
Ward is survived by his wife, Nancy, whom he met in October 1989 and married five years later on June 3, 1995, in Lebanon, IL; two children, Ben Navickas of Thoma, WI,
and Nicole Oxton of Sappington, MO; two grandchildren, Kiley Oxton and Max Oxton; a sister, Kathlene (Louie) Sabella, in Florida.
