Wanda M. Valsoano, 87, passed away at 7:20 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on February 7, 1925 in Ava, IL, the daughter of Joseph A. and Velma M. (Worthen) Harral.
She married Cled James Valsoano in August 1968 in Bethalto. He passed away on June 21, 1993.
Wanda was a trimmer at Marine Garment Company for over 17 years. She owned and operated a restaurant in Bunker, MO and in 1970 she moved to Ft. Myers, FL and worked at Lee County Child Care and managed the kitchen until 1992 when she moved back to IL. She was a member of the Bethalto Church of God and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling to Branson and Disney World with her family, shopping and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jim Simmons of Bethalto and Sheila and Larry Barton of Salem, MO; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Jack Moore Jr, Jody Moore, Melissa and Andy Epps, Tony and Paula Simmons, Monica and Rich Skaggs, Misty and Dennis Howard and Larry and Cassidy Barton Jr.; six great grandchildren, Blake, Blaine, Nina, Drew, Kinsey and Kara and one baby girl on the way; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma Butler of Bethalto, Juanita and Orville Followell of Murphysboro, IL and Sharon Collins of Edwardsville; a special friend, Betty Vaughn of Bethalto and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jack Moore and a sister, Joann Absher.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, August 3, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, August 4, 2012 with Pastor Jeremy Robinson officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
