Virginia Anna Mae (formerly Baer) Moonier, 96, passed away at 10:37 am on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Godfrey, IL.
She was born on July 8, 1929 in Perryville, MO to Herman and Anna (Berkbigler) Baer.
She married Alvin Joseph Moonier on April 22, 1950 in their hometown of Perryville. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2015.
Virginia worked as a saleswoman for May Company, a subsidiary of JC Penney. After moving to Godfrey from Crystal City, Missouri, she and Alvin attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church. They enjoyed being Florida Snowbirds for 17 years. While in Florida, she and Alvin formed their band, "The Country Singers." Both would sing while Alvin played guitar while Virginia played keyboard. They enjoyed performing together throughout their community. When they weren't spending time at their second home, they enjoyed vacationing in the Lake of the Ozarks. Virginia was also a skilled craftswoman, especially at basket weaving and Swedish weaving needlepoint. She also loved spending time with friends and family. She will be deeply missed.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sharon Anne (Jeff) Campbell of Godfrey, Randall Joseph "RJ" (Esther) Moonier of St. Charles, Missouri, and Kenneth Lee "Ken" (Janell) Moonier of Crystal City, Missouri; her sisters-in-law, Mary Cottner and Joann (Joan) Moonier; four grandchildren, Brooke Moonier, Derrick (Christina) Moonier, Brandon (Erica) Moonier, and Jeris (Brandy) Moonier; and eight great-grandchildren, Jersey, Brynn, Eliza, Jakob, Jionni, Jaxon, Tate, and Ellie Jo.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Cecilia Hunt in 2013 and Viola Marie Lowes in 2014.
Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held in Perryville, Missouri at a later date. Virginia will be inurned alongside her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
