Toni Carr

Toni Laine Carr, 66, died at 2:33 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, with her loved ones by her side.

She was born in Alton, Illinois on May 10, 1960, one of three children born to Robert P. and Janelle (Maholland) Hamel.

Toni graduated in 1978 from Carrollton High School, and was a dedicated secretary at Anheuser-Busch in Saint Louis for 30 years before her retirement.

She loved to entertain in her home and spoiled everyone with her delicious meals, and her Christmas light display during the holidays was a sight to behold.

Toni poured her heart and soul into the youth at the Kane Baptist Church, where she was very active with the youth group, as well as Bible School.

She married the love of her life, David Carr, on November 18, 1989 at the Kane Baptist Church, and their 36 year marriage has been filled with love and devotion.

Surviving are her husband, David Carr of Kane; a brother, Rev. Robert and Susan Hamel of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother in-law and sister in-law, Stanley and Melody Carr of Warsaw; nieces and nephews, Nicholas Hamel, Charissa Hamel, Dorothea Hamel, Douglas Carr and Will Carr; great nieces and nephews, along with her special "boys' who loved her dearly, Travis, Jared and Justin Reno, and Ben DeWitt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Hamel; and her father in-law and mother in-law, Raymond and Retha Vi Carr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Kane Baptist Church with Frank DeWitt officiating, and it only seems fitting that her graduation into eternity will occur during Bible School week.

Burial will be in Kane Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Kane Baptist Church or to the Kane Cemetery.
