Tammy Cope

Tammy Elaine (Monroe) Cope, 67, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 9:33 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Gateway Regional Medical Center.

Born June 19, 1958, in Granite City, Tammy was the cherished daughter of the late E. Alex Monroe and the late Ada “Doris” (Revelle) Glasgow. On June 24, 1978, she married the love of her life, Alfred “Gene” Cope Jr., at City Temple in Granite City. Together they shared 47 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, faith, and enduring love.

Tammy dedicated over 30 years of service as a quality control assistant at Heidtman Steel before retiring in 2015. A proud 1976 graduate of Granite City High School, she was a faithful, longtime member of City Temple, where her spirit and devotion left a lasting impact.

Creative and vibrant, Tammy had a flair for fashion and a love for crafts. She never passed up a day of shopping—whether online or at her favorite local stores—and was always impeccably dressed, from her stylish clothing to her jewelry and makeup. She treasured family vacations to Silver Dollar City in Branson and anything Disney, creating joyful memories that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Tammy was the heart of her family—the “Queen Bee” to her beloved “Princesses.” Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength will forever be remembered.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alfred “Gene” Cope Jr.; two devoted daughters, Amy Cope of Granite City and Emily Cope (fiancé Brendan Toebe) of Collinsville; four adored grandchildren, Avarey Cope, Emery Cope, Aria Johns, and Catheryn Pagano; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alex (Lisa) Monroe of Salem, MO, Randy (Lori) Monroe of Alton, and Ron (Trish) Glasgow of Rockwall, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kristy (Gene) Coughlin of Collinsville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Debbie) Cope of Dayton, TX, and Rodney (Susan) Flood of Granite City; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Adam E. Cope; her parents; and her stepfather, Ronald Allen Glasgow Sr.

Visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will take place at City Temple, 4751 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Roy Boyer and Reverend Sam Hart.
