Steven “Steve” Theodore Darner, 52, of New Athens, IL, formerly of O’Fallon, IL, born on February 19, 1973, in Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully with his brother, Mike, by his side on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Steve lit up a room as soon as he walked into and loved to make people laugh. He never met a stranger. Once you met Steve, you never forgot him because he was one of a kind. He was a big teddy bear and loved people with all his heart. He will definitely be missed by everyone he touched in his life.
Steve loved Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, grilling, being outdoors, and was an avid collector.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Marilyn Darner (nee Stortzum).
Left to cherish Steve’s memory are the love of his life Lisa Wiegand of New Athens, IL; his daughter, Zora Millerleile of Florida; stepdaughter, Kalyn Wiegand of New Athens, IL; four siblings, Diane (Jay) Sinn of New Athens, IL, Laura (Robert) Chopp of MI, William Darner of Belleville, IL, Michael Darner of Caseyville, IL; three nieces and nephews, Brandon Michael Darner, Madelyn Sinn, Stevie Millerleile, and lifelong friend, Dwayne Tottleben.
