Stephen Miller

Stephen Gregory Miller, 45, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Gateway Regional Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1980, in Granite City.

Stephen was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country for 16 years before retiring in 2013. During his years of service, he was involved with Junior ROTC, the Army Reserve, and the National Guard. He received the 10,000 Mile Award along with many other medals, honors, and recognitions in appreciation of his dedication and commitment.

In his younger years, Stephen was a Royal Ranger and later became a member of AMVETS Post #214 in Madison, Granite City Eagles Aerie #1126, and the Croatian Fraternal Union. Over the years, he also remained active with the Armed Forces Museum at the Charles Melvin Price Support Center.

Stephen loved the outdoors and found great enjoyment in fishing, working with RC cars, online shopping, and traveling. A recent trip to the Bahamas with his family was a dream come true and a memory that will be cherished by those who shared it with him. Above all, Stephen treasured his family, adored his niece and nephew, and will be remembered for the love he gave and the special moments he shared.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda L. (Bruce) Hampton of Granite City; his father, Stephen D. (Victoria) Miller of Granite City; two sisters, Amanda (Brian Arnold) Miller of Granite City and Patricia (Zachary) Payne of Pocahontas; his lifelong friend, Mark Kube of Granite City; his niece, Emma Chancellor of Granite City; his nephew, Caleb Arnold of Granite City; two aunts, Beatrice (Victor) Rouse of St. Louis and Marina (Michael) Pool of Granite City; many cousins; other extended family; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Melba Miller, George Gott, and Gisela Rasp.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, his birthday, with Pastor Zachary Payne officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
