Sherry Lynn McGibany Wohlert, 76, of Alton, Illinois, passed peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sherry was born on January 21, 1949, in Alton, Illinois, to the late David and Arline McGibany. Sherry lived a life dedicated to her family. She owned Lil' Doughboy Donut Shop for many years, and retired after working as a Security Guard for Allied Universal/Guardsmark in Hartford, Illinois. Sherry was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed many games with her father.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Phil Wohlert.
She will be deeply missed by her children, son, Chris Russell, daughter, Jodi Russell-Baum (Bobby), and son, Troy Wohlert (Marty).
She was a cherished grandmother to Samantha Lynn Baum, Savannah Lynn Baum, Hailey Baum, Kirsten Masiero, Chelsea Drown, Marissa Banks, Austin Wohlert, Jessica Wohlert, Megan Wohlert, Troy Wohlert Jr., and Amira Wohlert. She was also great-grandmother to Anthony and Santana Ballinger.
She is also survived by her brother, Jim McGibany (Sharon) and two special nephews, Jimmy McGibany and Davey McGibany.
In addition to her parents, David and Arline McGibany, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carla Willis Cronin (Gary), and her brother, Ken Hauskins (Mick). She is also reunited with her granddaughter, Sophie Lynn Marie Baum, two additional angel grandbabies, and her faithful dog, Beebee.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Brad Donoho officiating.
Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the 5 A's Animal Shelter or to the Alton Marching 100.
