Sandra Brinkman passed away peacefully at home in Bethalto, IL, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Sandy was in the loving care of her husband Gene, and in the hearts of her extended family across the country.
Sandy is survived by Gene her husband of 39 years, daughters Michele Rempe (Steve), Gail Sarganis, and Don Brinkman (Sonya), her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving, nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryll Schunke, and great granddaughter Aubrey Rempe.
Born July 8, 1936, Sandy spent much of her adult life living in Europe and the Midwest as a military wife and raising her three girls. She finally settled in Novato, CA in 1969 where she successfully worked in the restaurant business for many years. She married Gene in Novato in 1976 where they lived until 1995, enjoying time with their close family, watching and enjoying time with their grandchildren, traveling and spending time with a great group of friends.
In Bethalto they reconnected with family, made new friends, and enjoyed time going to the gym and traveling. Sandy was a person that always enjoyed her life, family and friends, and was quick to smile and laugh. Her laughter was contagious and was always followed by a sly smile that continues to live in the heart of all that knew her.
A private memorial will be held at a future date with immediate family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy’s name to a Charity of One’s Choice.
