Russell Loomis

Russell, R. Loomis, 93, of St. Jacob, IL, born Sunday, April 3, 1932, in Plymouth, Iowa and passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Russ served his Country Honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion. Russ attended the St. Jacob Methodist Church. He was instrumental in the revival of Mill Pond Park, raising funds with the BBQ committee to purchase the Gazebo, flagpole and concrete benches. He saw the pond as a place for the children of the community to gather and fish.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vincenta (nee Hopkins) Loomis whom he married September 28, 1951, and she passed away on February 21, 1989; his daughters, Laura Loomis and Carolyn Porter; grandson Christopher Porter; his sisters, Betty Hansen, Darlene Mercer and Dorothy Phillips.

Surviving is his children; James F. (Kimera Walsh) of St. Jacob, IL, Jeffery L. (Darla) Loomis of Germantown, IL and Sue (Andy) Loomis-Steinkoenig of Highland, IL; grandchildren, Denis Porter II, Kim (Rueben) Lopez, Cristina (Shastine Mosley) Loomis, Tim (Jamie) Loomis, Jamie Giles, Nick Loomis, Owen (Morgan Boucher) Steinkoenig and Riley (Ellie Wessel) Steinkoenig; great-grandchildren, Payton, Skyler, Gabriel, Emmanuel, Isabella, Samuel, Brynlie, Addalyn, Jackson, Jayla and Aidan; nieces, nephews, cousins; his buddy and neighbor, Tom Kaminski and many friends.

Visitation for Russ will be 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025, and 10 to 11 am on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, Il with Rev. John Wehrle officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL.
