Roger Lee Maxvill Titchenal, age 73, of Alton, Illinois, passed away on March 8, 2026. Roger was born on October 4, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. Roger was adopted in 1970 by Thomas and Phyllis Titchenal of Fosterburg, Illinois.
Roger was born to Jack and Vivian Maxvill and spent much of his life in the Alton area. He graduated from Alton High School in 1971. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1975. Following his service, Roger built a career in landscaping, where he shared his talent for landscape design and his love of creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
Roger lived life with enthusiasm and zest. He had a deep love for dancing, music, sewing, theater, and landscape design. Whether he was enjoying a good song, creating something with his hands, or spending time outdoors, Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures. His vibrant spirit, sense of humor, and welcoming personality made him someone people were naturally drawn to. Roger was known for being happy, kind, and always ready to share a smile.
Roger is survived by his loving sisters, Cathy Augustine, Kimberly Wild, Beverly Harrison, and Cindy Tom; and his brothers, Joe Titchenal (Penny), Bob Titchenal and Danny Titchenal (Boo).
He was preceded in death by his sisters Karen Houston and Charlene Tackabarry, and his brothers Phillip Maxvill, Gene Calvin, Jack Calvin, Steven Maxvill, and Tommy Titchenal.
Roger also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. As well as several cherished friends who were like family to him, including Brian Mallory; Denise and John Fields; and Gail Woolverton. Their friendships brought him great happiness throughout his life.
Roger’s life was one filled with creativity, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, but his joyful spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
