Roger E. Hamlin, 75, of Gillespie, IL, died at Copper Creek Cottages of Litchfield, IL on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 9:45 a.m.
He was born October 23, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, IL to Billy Hamlin & Kathryn Hampton Hamlin. He married Mary Lou (Sandretto) Nickles Hamlin on February 21, 2004 in Gillespie, IL.
He was retired after having been a stationary fireman for Jacksonville Development Center. Roger was a member of the St. Paul's Masonic Lodge of Springfield. He was a former member of the Mt. Pulaski Volunteer Fireman and Auxiliary Police. He was also a former Gillespie alderman.
Roger was an accomplished wood worker and furniture maker. He enjoyed camping, boating and spending time with family and friends especially Kevin Bussmann and Frank Barrett Jr.
He is survived by his spouse, Mary Lou Hamlin of Gillespie, IL, daughter, Stacey (Matt) Hull of Springfield, IL, grandchild, Rosalie Jean Hull, sibling, Larry (Melinda) Hamlin of Mechanicsburg, IL, brothers in laws, Rob (Angela) Sandretto of Gillespie, IL, Maynard (Brenda) Hampton of Litchfield, IL, several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Funeral services are Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie with Masonic rites following.
Gravesite services will be on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
