Robert (Bob) Lee Campion passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, after a brief illness at the age of 94. Bob was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on June 17, 1930, the son of Elmer N. and Mildred E. (Huff) Campion. He was raised from infancy by his stepfather Clarence D. Greeling. He married Lucy Joeanna Chambers on May 11, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Nancy Weston (Edward) of Belleville, Illinois and Linda Foege (Mark) of Bluffton, South Carolina. Grandchildren, Meghan Arnold (Craig), Sean Fleming (Sarah), John Foege, Derek Weston (Gwenn) and Jared Weston (Kristin). Great grandchildren, Connor and Allison Arnold, Michael, Olivia and Lillian Fleming, Gregory and Grace Weston, Leigha, Raquel and Brooks Weston. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition, he is survived by his brother Clarence Jacob Greeling (Karen) of Bella Vista , Arkansas, and a very special cousin and good friend, Gene Campion. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Marjorie Eichen.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, and the active reserves until 1962. He retired from Union Electric Power Company in 1990 after 37 years of service.
Bob in his younger years was an avid hunter and enjoyed shooting Trap. He was a member of many organizations. He was a life member of the NRA, Migratory Waterfowl Hunters Inc, and IFOR. He was also a member of ISRA, IBEW Local 649, and American Legion Post. What Bob enjoyed most was spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob and Joeanna are long term members of Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Timothy Appel will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
