Robert “Bob” K. Birk, 88, of Brighton, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025.
He was born on January 19, 1937, in Carlinville, IL, the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Johnston) Birk.
Bob worked as a lineman for MJM for 44 years and served our country in the Illinois Air National Guard. He served on the Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Department and as a trustee on the village board. Bob was an active member of Faith Baptist Church and cherished spending his time with family.
He married Shirley Zirges on September 29, 1956, in Carlinville, IL. She survives.
Together they have two children, Karen (Ken) Hoefler of Battle Creek, NE and Dave (Joy) Birk of Maryville, IL; four grandchildren Kaleb (Erika) Hoefler, Kyla (Tyler) Jones, Klayton Hoefler, and Kourtney (Camden) Jones; seven great grandchildren Kensington, Everleigh, Stella, Brynn, Lewis, Clara, and Scotti; brother John (Sharon) Birk.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Birk
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, IL.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey, IL.
Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
