Richard “Rick” Eugene Herder, 68, of Jerseyville, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Depaul Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on June 13, 1956, in Jerseyville, to the late John and Martha (Giberson) Herder.
Rick married Mary Hartsook on November 12, 1977 in Greenfield. She survives.
He worked as a machinist for Owens-Illinois Glass Works and enjoyed hunting, fishing, throwing horseshoes, running cross country, and spending time with his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Rick is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jason (Emily) Herder of and Richard Herder Jr. both of Elsah; grandchildren, Austin (Amber) Herder, Jaime (Matthew) Lippold, Katie (Jason) Dellenbach, Mattalynne (Adam) Smiley, Sierra Hoofard, Matthew Suttless, Delilah Herder; eleven amazing great grandchildren, Jayden, Alanah, Carson, Aubree, Anne, Ayven, Aaliah, Owen, Addison, Elise, and Easton; numerous, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha; son Matthew Herder; siblings, Joe Herder, Anita Herder, Marjorie Broyles and infant sister Mary Herder.
Visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of funeral service at noon, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, IL.
Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery, Kane, IL
