Richard Wallace

Richard Brooks Wallace died peacefully on November 11, 2021. He was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, Poppy, and friend.

Richard was born on September 17, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to James Clifton and Gladys Wallace, who preceded him in death. Richard and Phyllis (nee Muhlenbruch) were married for 55 years, until her passing in March 2020. He is survived by their four children: Jennifer (Phil) Ebeling, Brooks (Katie) Wallace, Hannah (Mark) Murray, and Sarah (Ben) Doepke. He was blessed with nine grandchildren: Emma, Lillian, Sophie, Henry, James, Lew, Hazel, Ada, and Felix.

Richard dedicated himself to volunteering in his community. He served on the Boards of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School, Anderson Hospital, Collinsville Memorial Public Library, and Home Federal Savings and Loan. Richard found joy in gardening, cheering on the Cardinals, practicing law, and sharing advice at Wallace Realtors. He loved his grandchildren, a fresh ear of local corn, and a well-vetted five-star dinner with friends or family.

Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, and 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, both at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Walther officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Richard's honor to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
