Rhea M. Irvin passed away at 5:15 am Saturday June 29, 2013 at home with her family by her side while under the care of BJC Hospice
She was born September 3, 1935 in Rood House IL, the daughter of Ernest & Lena (Grisham) Bryant.
Rhea married Don Irvin on December 2, 1957 and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1988. She married Al Phillips in Mexico in 1991and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2009.
She worked for Owens Illinois Glass, the Bethalto School District as a teacher’s aide and Venture Stores.
Rhea loved the outdoors and nature in general. She loved to go four wheeling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.
She is survived by three daughters, LaRita and Dan Coffman of Shipman and Tricia and Jimmy Donovan of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Bobbi Lauman of St. Louis; a daughter-in-law, Maria Irvin of Meadowbrook; eight grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy Sanders of Ormond Beach, D.J. & Katie Irvin of Wood River, Stephanie Irvin and her fiancé’ Tyler Allshouse of Bethalto, Ethan Coffman and his girlfriend Krista Flowers of Carbondale, Jennifer Irvin of Bethalto, William Baxter of Springfield, Tina Crews of Collinsville, and Debbi & Gary Keller of St. Peters, MO; a sister, Margaret Isringhausen of Alton, a brother, Donald Bryant of Granite City and two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Mary Irvin of Bethalto and Betty and Leroy Diefenbach of Harrisburg, IL; a special cousin, Treva Scroggins, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Bryant “Quincy” Donovan Irvin and a granddaughter Wendy Seward.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until services at 7:00 pm on Tuesday July 2, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Inurnment will be private at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
