Rebecca Jones
Glen Carbon | Save
Rebecca “Becky” Moreland Jones, age 84, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Becky was born on January 17, 1942, in Brighton, Illinois, the cherished daughter of the late George Wesley Swan and Lola Grace Morgan Swan.
On March 26, 1965, Becky married Robert “Bob” L. Jones in Brighton, Illinois. Together they shared a beautiful life and a devoted marriage of sixty-one years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.
Becky was a faithful and devoted member of Nameoki United Methodist Church and Grace Baptist, both of Granite City, and First Baptist Church of Maryville, where her kindness and warmth touched many lives as she enjoyed many years being part of the Welcome Team. She and Bob were well known in the community as the proud owners and operators of Baskin-Robbins 31 Ice Cream in Granite City, Illinois and Spanish Lake, Missouri, where they served families and friends for twenty-two wonderful years. During that time, Becky’s creativity shined. She and Bob earned two National Golden Scoop Awards for their imaginative cake designs, including a heart-shaped cake adorned with hot fudge roses and a festive Christmas wreath cake. Also, during their careers together, time was spent as owner operators of Pick-A-Video, Sun Catchers Tanning, Sun Styles Hair Salon, Natural Nail Care Clinic, Image Rejuvenation, and Edible Arrangements in several Metro East, Illinois locations and St. Louis, Missouri.
Becky had a gift for bringing joy to others. She loved watching and feeding birds, especially the bright red cardinals that often visited her yard. Gardening, arranging flowers, and playing cards/games with long-time friends also brought her great joy for many years! She was a talented oil and watercolor painter whose artistic spirit brought beauty into the lives of those around her. Becky never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word.
Her kitchen was another place where her love for others flourished. Becky was a wonderful cook and baker who delighted in making special birthday cakes for her grandchildren. She was endlessly creative, deeply caring, and above all else, devoted to her family. Becky’s gentle spirit and loving heart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Swan and Mary Metzger-Harris.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Jones, of Glen Carbon, Illinois; her loving daughters, Lisa (David) Goff of Thornton, Colorado and Andrea (John) Koelz of Matthews, North Carolina; her dear brother, David (Cindy) Swan of Centralia, Washington; and her treasured grandchildren, Shelby Koelz, Matthew Goff, and Sydney (fiancé Jack Laslo) Koelz. Becky is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
In celebration of Becky’s life, visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tom Hufty at First Baptist Church of Maryville, 7110 State Route 162, Maryville, Illinois 62062.
Private family interment will be held on Monday, at Brighton City Cemetery in Brighton, IL.
