Phyllis Young

Phyllis Lee Young, nee Buckner, 98, of Belleville, IL, born December 18, 1927, in Marion, IL, passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Phyllis was a member of Christ the King Apostolic Church, O’ Fallon, IL. She enjoyed taking naps and hanging out in her sunroom. Above all else, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Buckner; her mother, Lillie Mae, nee Rush, Riesner; and her four brothers, Gene, Vernon, Clifton, and Billie Buckner.

Phyllis is survived by her three children, Kenneth M. Barker (Suzan Bauer), Mary Lee (David) Poole, and Christina (Jason) Keck; three grandchildren, Jessica Lee Poole, Hannah Barker, and Lucas Barker; two great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lee Herzig and Penelope Marie Herzig; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, December 27, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, December 27, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Pastor J. Andrew Romine officiating.

A private burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
