Paul Emmett Dean Covey, 70, passed away at 4:06 pm Wednesday May 2, 2012 at Christian Northeast.

He was born on May 17, 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Paul and Nadene (Miller) Covey. 

He was married to Aurora “Lupe” G. Saldivar in Alton, October 4, 1979. She survives. 

Paul was an avid Cardinal lover and car enthusiast. He owned Emmett’s Auto Repair, where he worked as a mechanic. 

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Angelica and Daniel Dunning of Alton, Tracy and Katie Covey of Florissant, MO, Debbie and Darrell Osburn of Benld, Diane and Mark Niedert of Bethalto and Marsha Carmack of Pontoon Beach; step children and a spouse, Shawn Long of Bethalto, and Roxanne and James Foster of Bethalto; a sister and her spouse, Juanita Irene and Ronald Mincey of Bethalto; eighteen grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and his beloved care giver Penny Davis.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Covey.

Visitation will be from 2 pm until time of service at 4 pm on Saturday May 5, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home of Bethalto, IL with Pastor Adrian Das officiating.

Cremation rights were accorded.

Memorials may be made to Bethalto Church of God or Community Hope Center.
