Patsy Ruth Schiber, 82, passed away 7:35 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her residence.

Born in Hartford on April 29, 1934, she was the only child of Henry George Giesike and Joy Agnes (Gilbert) Bandy.

Patsy and her husband, Robert, founded and co-owned Schiber Truck Company in Hartford in 1954. She had been a Scout leader with the Girl Scouts of America for 15 years and enjoyed traveling in campers all over the United States for over 50 years.

She married Robert "Bob" Schiber on September 4, 1954 in Hartford, where they remained lifelong residents.

Surviving are her husband, Robert; son, Mike (Cyndy) Schiber of Edwardsville; daughter, Janet (Don) Copeland of Hartford; grandchildren, Amy Moore of Hardin, Kari (Don) Copeland of Hartford, Rob (Katie) Schiber and Kristen (Tim) Stunkel all of East Alton, Erica (Pete) Hackett of Bethalto, Marissa Schiber of Edwardsville; great grandchildren, Drake Dineff, Emma and Hayden Copeland, Kennedy Hackett and Shelby Stunkel.

Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday.  Pastor Gary Ballard will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
