Patsy L. Meeden, 84, died at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born May 14, 1940 in Viburnum, MO, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Esther (Duncan) Ambrose.
She married Leo E. Meeden at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Arthur Lowenstein of Rosewood Heights. They were married for 52 years. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2013.
Surviving are her children, Mark Meeden (Anita) of Afton, MO, Rhonda Griffin of Alton, Elizabeth Manion of Alton, and Julie Hise (Steve) of Alton, and five grandchildren, Ryan Harris, Benjamin Griffin, Valerie Deeds (Steven), Jarrett Meeden and Mikayla Meeden. Also surviving are two brothers, Allen Ambrose of East Alton and Roger Ambrose (Gail) of Kokomo, IN. Her children and grandchildren were very special to her.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Ambrose and three sisters, Jean Lowenstein, Fay Steckel and Gloria Jo Ambrose.
Patsy worked as a long-distance telephone operator for Illinois Bell Telephone Company and later as a nurse’s aide.
She was a stay-at-home mom for most of her married life and enjoyed knowing that her family was well cared for. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1953 and has been a member of Brown Street Baptist Church since 1954.Over many years, she worked in Awana Club, Children’s Church, the nursery department and sang in the adult choir.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be at Fosterburg Cemetery. Reverend Daniel Sternquist will officiate.
