Norma Jeanne Jarrett, age 90, of Glen Carbon, Illinois died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Norma was born September 8, 1925, in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of the late Albert C. & Ida B. (Hesi) Harris. She married Robert W. Jarrett at St. John’s United Methodist Church on August 12, 1948. He preceded her in death.
Norma is survived by a daughter Jamie (husband Michael) Akin of Costa Rica; 3 sons, Shawn (Wife Jeannine & daughter Corryn) Jarrett of Glen Carbon, Robert L. (daughter Natalie) Jarrett of Edwardsville, and Richard T. (wife Donna & daughter, Lea & son, Brandon) Jarrett of St. Louis; first cousins, Roland (wife Lorna) Harris of Highland, IL, Chet Harris of Dallas, Texas, and Ron V. Harris of Peoria, IL.
Norma was a Print model for Justin Savage, Photographer, appearing in Vogue and Glamour Magazines and department store ads. Originator and commentator for “Models in Motion” for Auerbachs and Shupack’s at Rusty’s Restaurant for six years. She owned and operated J & J Accounting Service. Norma was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Farside Sunday School Class at St. John’s, the Tuesday Evening Wine Group, Meridian Village, and Thursday’s Classmates of “43 Lunch Group and Owl’s Lunch Group.
Norma was a donor at St. Louis University School of Medicine. There is no visitation and a private service was held. Memorials may be given to St. John’s United Methodist Church or the Benevolent Fund and Meridian Village in Glen Carbon. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
