Nelda Joy Lancaster Clutts, 77, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her home.
She was born July 14, 1948, in Dover, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Robert Fitzhugh and Lucille (Whitford) Lancaster.
She retired from Olin Corporation in East Alton after many years of dedicated service as a legal secretary.
She was a longtime faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Granite City. Nelda attended Lindenwood University later in life where she proudly received her Bachelor Degree in Business. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and working with crafts, enjoyed gardening and had a special love for the Christmas season. She cherished her family and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Moon of St. Louis, Missouri; James (Nicole) Clutts of Granite City, Illinois and Christina (Matt) Bennett of O’Fallon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Trenton Clutts and Brynliegh Clutts; a brother, Robert (Janet) Lancaster of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Jane Jones of Collinsville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; cousins; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lancaster and a brother-in-law, Fred Jones.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Jackie Havis officiating.
Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
