Monica Jeanne Davenport, 89, died at 2:19 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Charter of Godfrey Senior Living. She was born January 12, 1937 in Alton, the daughter of the late Emmet and Mabel Irene (Bennett) Todd.
Monica graduated from Alton Sr. High in 1954 and SIU Carbondale in 1957. She worked for Bell Telephone in public relations from 1957 -1967. Monica went on to attend Lewis and Clark Community College in the early 1980’s and worked as the branch manager for Citizens Savings and Loan which later sold to Lemont Savings from 1985-1995.
On January 19, 1963 in Alton, she married Orris “Gene” Davenport, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2000.
Surviving are one nephew, Joseph “Joe” Gaither (Sharon) of Godfrey and one niece, Pam Kennedy.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Davenport and one son, John Davenport.
