Michael "Mike" Ross Slightom, 75, of Raymond, IL, passed away on July 27, 2025 at his residence.
He was born August 21, 1949 in Litchfield to Ross and Veda (Wilson) Slightom. He was a 1967 graduate of Raymond High School.
Mike was a general contractor owning and operating Slightom Construction. He owned and operated Lincoln Casket Company in Litchfield and was a construction trade instructor at Blackburn College in Carlinville.
Mike was a SGT in the US Army. He served in Vietnam and received a bronze star. He was a member of the Gillespie Bass Club. He won many fishing tournaments including the Lunkers 1989 unlimited tournament. He was also in the Raymond American Legion and a lifetime member of the 173 Airborne Association.
Mike married Jane Ellington on November 1, 1981.
He is survived by his wife Jane of Raymond, children James "Jim" (Melinda) Slightom of Raymond, Joel (Stefanie) Slightom of Waggoner, Theresa (Kirk) Monson of Auburn, Cathy (Jeremy) Vicari of Palmyra, Danny (Brenda Tyree) Hough of Hillsboro, David (Karen) Hough of Hillsboro, several grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, siblings, David (Gloria) Slightom of Joliet, Dennis Slightom of Virden, Jo Ellen (Rusty) Moore of Virden, several nieces, nephews and his trusted companion, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Janice White and Julie Jenkins.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 1, 2025 at The Living Center, 418 N Springfield Road, Raymond from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm with funeral services to follow at The Living Center at 12:00 pm.
Burial will be in St. Raymond's Cemetery in Raymond.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
