Michael E. Hampton passed away suddenly from this life on December 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and in the arms of the love of his life, LeAnn.
Born in nearby Highland, IL, Mike was raised in Troy, IL, and a lifelong Troy resident. He loved his family fiercely and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend whose kindness, humor, strength and wisdom touched everyone who knew him. He was always available to help and ready to support others.
Mike was an electrician for many years, working for Lanahan Brothers and then opening his own business, Hampton Electric. Sons Michael, Jared, and Joshua helped with the business over the years. After retiring, he continued to do electrical work here and there for family and friends and was challenged from time to time on electrical projects with longtime friend Brion Boeshans.
Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite hobby and pastime was bass fishing and visiting with fellow fisherman. He also enjoyed watching Illini football and basketball and tuned in to watch the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are his wife, LeAnn (Dawson); sons Michael (Alexia) Hampton, Jared (Kristi) Hampton and Joshua Hampton; grandchildren Olivia, Cameron, Lilliana, Jackson, Savannah, Nicholas and Michael; and great grandchild Soleia; dear family friend Jonah Crouse; brother Jim Hampton (Val); niece Jamie Reitz (Nick), and great nieces Ella and Hattie; and brother-in-law William J. Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar R. and Melba (Bartels) Hampton; his Aunt Clarice “Clackie” Bartels; in laws William E. and Donna L. (Fritsche) Dawson; and sister-in-law Susan L. Dawson.
Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his generosity and friendship.

A visitation/sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL, with Pastor Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
