Merrill “Mike” Michael Jacoby, 89, of Brighton, formerly of Cottage Hills, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Brighton.
He was born on April 20, 1936, in Alton, the son of the late John and Mildred (Kolb) Jacoby.
Mike” was married to Gloria McClusky who passed January 30, 1983, Joyce Flowers who passed September 13, 2001, Anita Herder who passed April 24, 2007, and Barbara Watson who passed March 1, 2018.
He retired from General Electric as a maintenance foreman after 48 years. He was a fire captain on the Cottage Hills Fire Department. Mike enjoyed life to the fullest. He belonged to every bar around town. He enjoyed the OWLS club the most where everyone called him “Uncle Mike”. Mike lived his life full of laughter, love, and a lot of heartache.
Mike” is survived by two children April (Kevin) Spurgeon of Brighton and Michael Jacoby of East Alton; step children Don (Carol) Pruitt, John (Steve) Pruitt-Jones, Theresa (Jerry) Payne, Don Reed, and Kevin (Melissa) Reed; grandchildren Dylan Spurgeon, Layla Jacoby, Richard Hartman, Robert Robinson, John Robinson, and Christy Nance; grandson in law Jason Staszewski; great grandson Jason Staszewski; sister Marcia Blasoili; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by 4 wives; parents; Daughter Millie Robinson; granddaughter Nicole Staszewski; step children Jerry Pruit, Jeff Pruitt, and Mike Bick.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
