Merrill "Dale" Foiles, 91 of Jerseyville, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Jerseyville Manor. Born on October 2, 1934 in Batchtown, Illinois to M. Ellis and Anna B. (Wiener) Foiles.
He was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass until his first retirement. Merrill then became a machine repairman at Boeing and McDonald-Douglas before his retirement. He was an Army Veteran., a member of First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge and American Legion all of Brighton, IL.
He married Shirley Booth on September 2, 1955 and she precedes him on February 1991, then he married Esther Tepen-Haun on October 1, 1994 .
Surviving are his wife, Esther; sons, Lowell W. (Lisa) Foiles and Darrin E. (Kathy) Foiles; step-children, David (Lori) Haun and Brad (Shelly) Haun; three daughters, Marilyn (Rick) Weigler, Vickie Ramel and Debra Haun (David Allen); four grandchildren, Danielle, Dustin, Chelsea and Joshua; and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Shirley, his parents, step-sons, John Haun and Jim Ramel.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10am until the time of memorial service on Friday, July 31, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Brighton. Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Pastor Mark Wendleton will officiate.
