Matthew Zachary “Zach” Rector, 56, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at his home.
Born Jan. 27, 1970 in Alton, he was a son of Marvin Merle and Shirley Queen (Fowler) Rector.
Zach was an artist and musician. He loved music and played saxophone and guitar.
Survivors include his daughter, Jacqueline Rector of Jerseyville; his grandson, River Gaffney; his brother, Gerald Rector of Pana; three sisters, Selena Hayes of East Alton, Marcia McCaslin of Kansas City, MO, and Cindy McClain-Mack of Bethalto; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mona Rector; and a brother, Victor Rector.
