Mary Lily Bernadine Workman, 69, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital from complications of pneumonia.
Born Sept. 18, 1956 in Alton, she was a daughter of Jack Bick and Nellie Watson.
Mary was a technician for several years at Alton Mental Health Center. She loved animals, Halloween, The Wizard of Oz and Pepsi.
Survivors include her son, Michael Watson of Alton; her daughter, Elizabeth (Baum) Buck and her husband Jason of Wood River; granddaughter Destiny “Cora” Buck of Wood River; grandsons Kyle (Jen) Knight of East Alton, Sean Baum and Cameron Baum, both of Texas, Alexander Baum of Illinois and Jonathan Smith; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Jenny (Johnnie) Maples of Granite City and Jackie Hill of Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her former husband, John Workman of Bethalto.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Baum; sisters Elena Evans and Susan Graham; and brothers Richard and Francis Bick.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 7 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 2 p.m. until services begin at 4 p.m. Following services, according to her wishes, she will be cremated.
