Mary Tally

Mary Lou Tally, age 90 of Mulberry Grove, passed away peacefully July 31, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Mulberry Grove Cemetery.  Family welcomes all to join them at the cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the American Farm Heritage Museum in lieu of flowers, plants, and gifts.  Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home Mulberry Grove in charge of arrangements.

Mary Lou, the daughter of Cleveland “Cleve” Grover and Trella McCall Daugherty, was born November 30, 1934, in Indiana.  She attended the local schools and graduated from High School.  Mary was from a large family, being one of 10 children: Maxine Hayes who survives and live in Indiana, Marlene Maynard who survives and lives in Texas, Juanita Nicoson who survives and lives in Indiana,  and preceded in death by siblings: Thomas McCall, Harold Daugherty, Robert Daugherty, Leo Kivits, Katherine Pine, and William Daugherty.

Mary and Chester Tally were united in marriage on November 30, 1951, at the ages of 19 and 17, in Paris, Illinois.  They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together, Chester passed away January 3, 2021. 

Mary Lou was a homemaker, raising seven children is a full-time loving job.  She did work for Greenville College in the kitchen and later at Cardinal Hill Nursing Home in housekeeping.  Her greatest love was for her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by their 7 children: Danny Tally (Barb) of Highland, IL, Randy Tally (Karen) of Mulberry Grove, IL, Gary Tally of Mulberry Grove, IL, Janice Elmore of Mulberry Grove, IL preceded in death by son-in-law Bob Elmore, Roy Tally (Tammie) of Smithboro, IL, Greg Tally of Mulberry Grove, IL, and Lisa Flattery (Paul) of Lovilia, Iowa. Loving grandmother  of 17: Adam, Chet, Brandon, Bryan, Bridgette, Tiffany, Jacob, Shannon, Tiffany, Eric, Cory, Brooke, Amber, Ashlee, Emily, Nina and Ethan. And 29 great-grandchildren: Brynee, Austin, Aaron, Lyla, Emma, Morgan, Grant, Jeffrey, Jared, Jaidyn, Jacob, Makai, Kruze, Talulla, Teagan, Christian, Brody, Brielle, Brexdon, Jasper, Landon, Aleea, Kyah, Brylee, Ava, Rhett, Reese, Soren, and Arden.

Mary will always be remembered by the love she had for others.  An avid reader, you often would find her reading a book or working in the garden in her spare time.  She will be missed by her family and friends.  Memorials are asked to be made to the American Farm Heritage Museum, Chester and Mary were long time supporters.
