Mark Gaskill

Mark R. Gaskill, 62, passed away at 4:07 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at OSF Healthcare in Alton, Illinois. He was born on February 18, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Dr. John Franklin and Marcia (Schoening) Gaskill.

Mark graduated from Rankin Technical School and devoted many years to his worked at Collins & Harman and Wert's Welding. He had a deep passion for bow hunting, fishing, gardening, boating, and rock music, all of which brought him joy throughout his life. One of his favorite sayings to family and friends was, "Party on, dudes."

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Grace Niebling) Gaskill of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Lisa (Tom) Jonannsen of Colorado and Christena (Brian) Cassidy of St. Louis, MO; a brother, John B. Gaskill of Kingsport, TN; and five nephews and one niece: Bobby (Tyler) Johannsen, Jonathan Johannsen, Ellie Gaskill, Adam Gaskill, Landon Cassidy, and William Cassidy.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Dr. John Franklin Gaskill.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Homes in Godfrey, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or the National Rifle Association.
