Marilyn C. (Kelemen) Fisher, age 82, of Godfrey, Illinois peacefully passed away on May 27, 2026 with her loving husband of over 26 years, Larry Fisher, by her side, after a seven-month battle of being in and out of hospitals and rehabs with a dreaded blood disease.
She was the loving daughter of the late Dr. Pete and Hermine (Farkas) Kelemen. Marilyn and Larry found the loves of their life in each other and married on May 13, 2006. She was a devoted wife, mom, Maw Maw, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend.
She is survived by her loving children from a previous marriage: Joseph Stewart III (Sheila) of Bonita Springs, FL; Scott DeClue-Stewart (Laura) of Wildwood, MO; Wendy Stewart (Rodger Wallis) of Arnold, MO; and Michael Fisher (Shonna Schrock) of Godfrey, IL. Marilyn was also a blessed grandmother “Maw Maw” to J.C., Finnegan, Lochlan, and Avery Stewart, Alexis and Thomas Fisher, Gavin and Drake Schrock, who brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Peter S. Kelemen III. She is also survived by her close sister-in-law, Mary-Ann Kelemen, nephew, Stephen (Roxanne) Kelemen, niece, Kathryn (Brendan) Lehan, great nephew Peter Kelemen, and great niece, Peyten Kelemen.
Marilyn never met a stranger and was very unforgettable person. Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, her steady presence and her optimistic outlook on life. She followed the St. Louis Cardinals and when the Kansas City Chiefs played, she never missed a chance to dress in the team colors. She loved playing tennis and won several trophies. She enjoyed staying fit by walking several miles a day. She had the honor to be the President of the Republican Women’s Club of St. Louis for several years.
A prayer service will begin at 12:45 p.m. followed by visitation until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St., Alton, IL 62002.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 820 W. Homer M. Adams Pkwy., Godfrey, IL 62035. Father Steve Janoski will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
