Margaret Watkins

Margaret Faye Watkins, 84, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born August 16, 1940, in Madison, Illinois, a daughter of the late William Harry and Meda Eleanora (Petitt) Champion. She married Billy Wayne Watkins on June 3, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma and he passed away on August 29, 2017. She had worked as a secretary with the family business of Watkins Refrigeration for 54 years. She cherished her children and grandchildren, loved taking pictures and making a lifetime of memories. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Watkins of Gillespie; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Wayne and Tami Watkins of Gillespie, Ronnie and Sharon Watkins of Gadsden, Alabama and Todd and Renita Watkins of Winfield, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, Courtney, Hilary, Scott, Tiffany, Lori, Lynsey, Sarah, Jacob, James, Jonathan, Stephen, Timothy, Susanna, Thomas, Justin and Janae; many great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathy and Steve Williams of Winfield, Missouri and Connie Muffler; nieces and nephews; cousins; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Thompson; a brother, Billy Champion and a niece, Sandy Brockman. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
