Margaret Jones

Mother Margaret Ann (Lacey) Jones, 63, received eternal rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born September 23, 1958, in Alton, IL to the late Mary Ann (Madison) Lacey of Alton, IL, and Earl Lacey of Edwardsville, IL.

She began her formal education in the Alton Public School District.  Margaret later proudly received her General Education Diploma in 1986.  Ms. Margaret earnestly worked in several fields such as janitorial, telemarketing, and home health care in the Alton community.  As a child, she attended the St. Paul Church with her late grandmother Nora Lacey.  The trajectory of her Christian walk started at an early age.  Her devotion to Christ matriculated into her later receiving the title of Church Mother.  She loved the Lord with all her heart.  Among her church family, she was known as “Mother Marge”.  The work that Mother Marge did was nothing shy of that of a truly humble servant of Christ.  In 1991, she became a member of the Monroe Memorial Church of Christ, under the wonderful leadership of Bishop Samuel E. White.  The many years of love, compassion, and servantry work that she has selflessly rendered to Christ, her church family, and community earned her the experience of being the recipient of the Monroe Memorial Mother of the year award.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Sophenya Weaver, a granddaughter: Ja’Nisha Stennis, paternal grandparents: Theo and Adline (McClendon) Lacey; maternal grandparents Carl and Sophia (Smith) Madison, three brothers: Terry Madison, Lamonte Lacey, and Earliest Jr. one sister Twyla Lacey and a special aunt and uncle: Purvis and Norma Smith.  

Margaret leaves to forever cherish her memory her beloved children: Frank Jr. (Serena) Jones, Jockeith Jones Sr., Tanisha (Eddie) Thomas all of Godfrey, IL, eleven grandchildren whom she adored : Kenyon(Andreas) Jr,  Marlon, Ja’Misha, Jalen (Chelsea), Jamal, Jacoby (Kirsten), Martel, Jockeith Jr(Autumn) , Frank, Ja’Kesa, and Jasmine, seven great grandchildren: Malachi, Noelle, Brielle, Triston, Judah, Jada, and Mila; honorary grandchildren: Anthony Cross Jr. and Devon Miller, her siblings Earlene Scott, Kevin ( Rosa) Lacey Sr., DeeSheryl ( Gregory) Walker , Norma Jean (Charles) James, Benjamin Pate, Ramon Lacey, Ramona Lacey, and Kimberly Gleason; special sisters Sharon Brooks, Valery Heart, Lizzie Golley, former in -laws Catherine Casey, Robert Jones, Marie Troutman, Howard Jones, Cynthia Jones , Shirlene Jones , Kenneth Jones Sr.; special nephew Jeffery Murphy Jr., two special friends Kimberly Matlock Williford and Natalie Slack ; lifetime friend Beverly Kaiser, and host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
