Mae Swan Woodruff, 94, formerly of Bethalto, died in Fort Worth, Texas of natural causes on August 19, 2025.
The only child of George H. and Clairebele Swan, she was born in Littleton, Colorado in 1931. She graduated from William Smith High School in Aurora and excelled at many clerical positions throughout her working life. She started a housecleaning business in her late 70s, and also enjoyed volunteering at the Community Hope Center. Mae was a kind, caring presence to many throughout her long life.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children Mona (Dave) Stout of Bethalto; Ward Dodge of Shippensburg, PA; and Mollie (Pam) Dodge-Hudson of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, and several cousins.
A private interment of ashes will take place at Lehow Cemetery near her father's birthplace in the former water company town of Kassler, Colorado. This will be followed by a celebration of life there; arrangements are pending.
