Mae Eileen Mottaz, age 90, of Godfrey, peacefully passed away on November 27, 2023, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.
Born on April 27, 1933, in Wood River, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mary (Beck) Gibson.
On April 28, 1961, Mae married Birdeaux B. Mottaz in Wood River, and he survives.
Mae worked for various legal and medical offices.
She was actively involved in the community as a member of St. Anthony's Auxiliary, where she served as President for four years and Vice President for four years.
Her love for animals, particularly her dogs, was evident throughout her life.
Survived by her loving husband, Birdeaux (Birdie), she is also fondly remembered by her nephew, Marc Wolfe, and numerous close friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Leslie and Mary Gibson, as well as two sisters, Eleanor Wolfe and Lillian Heyen, and a brother, Leslie Gibson.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a visitation is scheduled from 9:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 10 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Homes and Crematory in Godfrey. Reverend John Wooten will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the 5A's, a cause dear to Mae's heart.
