Lyndall Newell

Lyndall Francis Newell, 82, of Alton, entered Heaven's Gates at 9:28 am, Monday, December 15, 2025.

He was born on February 3, 1943, in Alton, the son of the late Edgar and Florence M. (Schute) Newell. Lyndall married Lola M. Richardson on June 30, 1968. She survives.

He attended Alton High School and worked at the Alton Box Board and Christian Extended Care and Rehab in St. Louis. Lyndall enjoyed fishing with his family members. Due to his love and compassion for children, Lyndall, his wife, and sister-in-law Lucy, were very involved in children's ministry through community outreach for the Bethalto Church of God, where they have been life-long members. They also traveled through several states to conduct Kids Crusades and puppet ministry. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his wife, Lola, of 57 years, he is survived by a sister, Mary Robinson; sister-in-law, Sadie (Arthur) Lewis; as well as several nieces and nephews, Crystal (Jesse) Lehnen, Rhonda (Paul) Smallwood, Gary (Lori) Lewis, Steven (Renee) Lewis, John (Dana) Richardson, David (Teri) Lewis, Deb Richardson-Stauffer, Becky Newell, Steven Newell, Bradley (Diane) Newell, Randy (Theresa Newell, Becky Smith, Pam Wiggins, Lisa Knox, Teddy Webb, Kimberly (Dave) Le Beck, and Jenny Robinson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Darlene Knox, LaVerte Webb, and LaVonne Fulks; three brothers, Robert Newell, Ed Newell, and Gene Newell; and three nephews, Bobby Newell, Greg Newell, and Jerry Richardson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 12 pm until time of service at 1 pm, at Bethalto Church of God. Bishop Gary Lewis and Reverend Steven Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills.

Memorials are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses.
