Lorraine Patricia Smith (nee Lawrey), 90, of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of O’Fallon, IL, born on July 9, 1935, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Eden Village Retirement Center in Glen Carbon, IL.
Lorraine was born in St. Louis, MO, to Robert D. and Kathryn Lawrey. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, painting wooden carvings her late husband made, Taco Tuesdays, and Bingo at the Legion in O’Fallon, IL. Lorraine socialized and attended just about every event in town.
Lorraine was also a former member of the Senior Citizen Board in O’Fallon, IL, was a pioneer for Southwestern Bell, and the O’Fallon Fire Department Auxiliary.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. and Kathryn Lawrey (nee Knox); her beloved husband, Gerald Smith; and sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Bob Shaver.
Left to cherish Lorraine’s memory is her daughter, Pam (Timothy) Jordan of Highland, IL; and her “grand-dogs”, who were like her grandchildren.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269.
A memorial service will begin on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269, with Dr. Rev. Martha Thiermeier officiating.
Burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
