Lloyd Lawson

Lloyd R. Lawson, 82, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home.

Born July 3, 1943 in Hillview, IL, he was a son of Fletcher, Sr. and Josephine (Newingham) Lawson.

Lloyd worked as a foreman for Laclede Steel, retiring in 1996. He later delivered propane for Ruyle Brothers. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Baptist Church and NSTRA, which is the National Shoot To Retrieve Association. He participated in countless field trials and trained his own and others’ dogs for those trials.

He married Joyce D. (Westbrook) Helfer on Oct. 5, 1990 and they shared almost 35 years of marriage. She survives, as well as his children, Kim Lawson; Roberta (Phil) Davidson, Rich (Stacey) Lawson and Everett (Nikie) Lawson; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; stepdaughter Kimberlee (Samuel) Daniel; and stepson Gary M. Helfer; and a sister, Nadine Leonard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Lillie Bunch, Virginia “Sissy” Long, Jeanette Ruyle, Lois Angenandt, Florence Bradley, and Janet Wilt; and three brothers, Everett L. Lawson, Fletcher Lawson, Jr., and Otto Lawson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at the Bunker Hill Baptist Church.
