Leslie Harrawood

Leslie Wayne Harrawood, 88, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Asbury Village in Godfrey. Born November 12, 1934, in East Alton, he was the son of Raymond and Verdie Alma (Galbraith) Harrawood. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1993 from Owens-Illinois. On April 12, 1957, he married Joan Lee Gibbons in Alton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Michelle Brooks of Alton, a son, Tim Harrawood (Rhonda) of Conway, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Bill (Monica) Brooks, Scott (Amanda) Harrawood and Elizabeth (Chris) Thornberry, 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jean (Ernie) Marshall. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Harrawood, a brother, Paul Harrawood and a sister, Roberta Meiners. Arrangements are pending at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
