Alhambra | Save
Leonard G. Frank, age 87 of Alhambra, IL, died Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at San Gabriel Memory Care in Highland, IL.
He was born on Monday, August 15, 1938, in Alhambra, IL, the son of Clemens and Alma (nee Ohren) Frank, Sr.
On Saturday, January 11, 1964, he married Audrey L. Frank (nee Heuiser) in Highland, IL, who passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
Leonard was born in Alhambra, Illinois and grew up on the family farm. He was the youngest of 15 children. He graduated from Highland High School in 1956. Leonard was drafted and served in the US Army with duty in Berlin, Germany. After returning home from the Army he worked at Alton Box Board for a few years while continuing to farm the family farm. He then began his career as a union trailer mechanic working at Pennsylvania Truck Lines and Conrail in Fairmont City until his retirement. After retirement, Leonard worked for several years at W.M. Trailer Repair Service as a mechanic and later as a farmhand at Grandview Farm until the age of 79. Leonard was a hard worker who enjoyed farming and butchering hogs each year throughout the winter months at all of the Frank Family weekend butchering’s. He enjoyed taking his family fishing and frog gigging. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Highland and served on the board. He and Audrey helped with the Friday night fish fry’s and were part of the "Potato Salad" group. Every Thursday morning, he would help cook the potatoes and prepare the secret recipe potato salad. He always kept his home and vehicles looking neat and clean. Leonard always had a great story to share with his family and friends and liked to joke around. He was very proud to tell everyone about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially enjoyed spending time with all of them.
