Lee B. McCoy, 81, passed away at 5:08 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Cedarhurst of Bethalto, with his family by his side.
He was born on January 3, 1945 in Alton, Illinois, and was raised there by his parents, Bernard and Margaret McCoy. Lee married Jeanie Doerr in Alton on March 14, 1970. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2023.
Lee worked as a mechanic for Union Electric (later Ameren) for over 30 years. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.
Lee was a member of Masonic Lodge #406 for over 50 years, as well as an Eastern Star Member. Additionally, he was also a member of the F.B.I. (Fat Boys of Illinois) Car Club. He enjoyed watching old westerns, living out in the country, and working on Fieros. Above all, his family was the center of his life. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by two daughters, Cherie Peake of Bradenton, Florida, and Valerie J. McCoy of Bethalto; a sister, Joan (Alan) Gaffney; and a granddaughter, Leigh-Anne Peake; as well as several, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Lee was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jill Hair; and his in-laws, Bud and Jane Doerr.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Masonic Lodge #406.
