Lauren Nannette Miller, age 76, of Godfrey, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home with family present following a three-month battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026. Born on December 31st, 1949, in Alton, Illinois, Lauren lived a life full of love and resilience, deeply cherished by her family and friends.
On December 4, 1971 Lauren married Thomas Miller in Alton. He survives.
Lauren leaves behind a legacy of devotion and kindness. Along with her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Jessica Leigh Grasle, and her husband Curtis of Godfrey; her son, Joshua Thomas Miller of Fosterburg; and her eight cherished grandchildren: Wade, Maddy, Lanee, Wyatt, Sydney, Trevor, Maverick, and Daxton. She also leaves behind her two adored great-grandchildren, Henry and Della. Lauren is survived by her brother, Wendle McAfoos, and his wife Barb, of Alton.
Lauren was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucille (Cole) McAfoos; a son, Benjamin Allen Miller, her five brothers, Bill, Oliver, Dwight, Stanley, and Alan McAfoos; and her two sisters, Denise Turner and Sue Lamarsh.
For many years, Lauren was a dedicated employee at Skyline Towers in Alton.
Lauren’s family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend George Van Voorhis will officiate.
Lauren Nannette Miller will be remembered as a loving mother, mawmaw, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
